Rising to an elevation of 2,130 feet, this historic hill fort is renowned for its steep rock patches, ancient caves, breathtaking viewpoints, and adventurous climbing sections.
The Gorakhgad Fort Trek & 250 Feet Rappelling Expedition offers an ideal combination of trekking, history, and technical adventure. Designed for both beginners with good fitness and experienced trekkers, this expedition allows participants to explore one of the most scenic forts in the Western Ghats while experiencing the thrill of rappelling down a massive 250-foot vertical rock face.
The journey begins with an overnight drive from Mumbai or Pune to the peaceful village of Dehari, nestled at the foothills of Gorakhgad. After refreshments and a detailed safety briefing by certified instructors, participants begin trekking through dense forests, rocky trails, and beautiful mountain terrain.
As the trail climbs higher, trekkers reach the famous Gorakhgad Cave, an ancient resting place carved into the mountain. After a short break, the final ascent leads to the summit, where breathtaking panoramic views of the Sahyadri mountain ranges, valleys, and surrounding forts await.
The highlight of the expedition is the thrilling 250-foot rappelling activity, where participants descend a vertical rock face using internationally certified climbing equipment under the supervision of experienced technical experts. Every participant receives a comprehensive safety briefing before the activity, making the experience both exciting and secure.
